Why convert MKV to MP4?
MKV (Matroska) is a flexible video container, but many phones, iPhones, Macs, TVs and video editors cannot open it. MP4 is supported almost everywhere.
Most MKV files already contain H.264 video. In that case the video is moved into MP4 in seconds without re-encoding, so the picture quality stays exactly the same.

Will I lose quality?
If the MKV contains H.264 video, no – the picture is copied unchanged. Other video formats are re-encoded to H.264 with a high quality setting.
What happens to subtitles and extra audio tracks?
The MP4 keeps the main video and the first audio track. Embedded subtitles and extra audio tracks are not included.
How long does it take?
H.264 videos usually take only seconds. Other formats need to be re-encoded and can take a few minutes for long videos.
Can I make the video smaller as well?
